Chris W. Voss (he/him) is a few things, which may not be related to the negotiation expert. He currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with his wife and two cats (who are lucky enough to get their own Instagram account to share).
By profession, Chris works with data and databases. He has worked with SQL Server going back to 2008, from when he started out as an E-Commerce analyst out of college running simple queries. His skills include writing and tuning T-SQL code, creating and supporting ETL/ELT processes using SSIS and Azure Data Factory, writing reports and architecting self-service business intelligence solutions (smaller scale ones, at least); he sometimes dabbles in Python and Powershell if the mood suits him. Around 2013, he got involved with the local MS Data Platform group (TriPASS) and has not looked back; eventually he started speaking at a few conferences in the latter half of the decade while soaking up knowledge from other experts. Chris is currently a Senior Database Developer for Fresenius Medical Care.
By passion, Chris volunteers with the Autism Society of North Carolina, where he assists with the annual Triangle RunWalk for Autism and serves as Vice Chairperson of their Human Rights Committee. As part of his responsibilities for the latter, he often does facility visits and works on plan reviews for those receiving services from ASNC and the state. Chris is also very much into running as a hobby. Inspired by the community around him, and the run club his wife co-organizes, he’s often found around town exploring new routes. Chris has two marathons and a 21:14 5k PR as his “average guy” accomplishments.
